So uh yeah, "Negative Numbers" was a thing I suggested last night and a lot of people seemed to like the idea so I figured we should have a thread to discuss them, what they might be, what they might be like, all that good stuff. ...you can probably tell but I'm not good at this.
Also, sorry if this is the wrong place to put this thread? It seemed the right place at the time...

I like the idea that they're complete opposite of someone's headcanon, like if #0003 were grumpy and antisocial then their Negative would be friendly and nice. I don't think that the negatives would have to all be evil, just the opposite of what the normal one is.

(Don't worry this was the perfect place to put it!) I really like the negative numbers idea, it's yet another twist on an already endless possibility of characters! I kind of imagine it to be like a Trickster version of a character, if you don't mind me bring homestuck into the discussion, haha.

I agree with lowercase Karkat. Also, they would have inverted colors and all that. They probably live in a mirror world (to whatever your fanpro universe headcanon may be)

I think my original idea was that they might be like Shadows, from the Persona series. Not necessarily evil, or completely different, but they embody something that the Original denies about themself, or keeps hidden. But upon reflection, I think the idea of them simply being opposites, or even crazed Tricksters, is slightly more appropriate. ((And forgive me if I'm wrong about Persona's Shadows, I haven't actually played any of the series, just been told about it by a friend.))

The idea of negatives opposite and maybe kinda trickerstery sounds cool! But so does the Shadow idea sound awesome too... I can't decide
On a side note sorry for the stupid post.
Edit: Haha nice scott!

tbh, I think just the concept of negative numbers opens up a whole door of possibilities. Are they shadows? An alternate forme? A group of Fanpro numbers who just revolted from their creators and refused to be a part of the original line? So much fun can be had with this, I swear.
The only problem I can see is how one goes about creating them. Atm, all fanpro designs are just added to the line in the order they're designed. What happens if someone decides to submit "-0018" before anyone's designed -0001? What if people start submitting Negative numbers that aren't actually related to an existing Fanpro design?

That's kind of why I want negative designs to stay as a kind of non-canon thing.

Well presumably, the Negatives aren't given their own numbers, they are simply the negative of whatever number they mirror. #-0018 isn't the eighteenth Negative, they are the Negative of #0018.
